MSC 2016 graduate, Leonora Kirk, loves her career in the dental industry. After achieving her Cert III and IV during her time at MSC, Leonora has gained a wealth of experience working in various dental practices. Currently employed as Practice Manager at Bunbury Oral Care Centre, Leonora and the Centre’s team make time to take on work experience students. Read Leonora’s Journey from Student to Practice Manager
I graduated at Manea Senior College in 2016. During my time at Manea Senior College I completed my Certificate III and IV in Dental Assisting in 2015, and a Certificate III in Business in 2016. Throughout 2015 and 2016 I completed work experience at multiple dental practices within the southwest region to further advance my knowledge and skills within the dental industry. I also did work experience at Shire of Capel for my Business Certificate.
Once I graduated I began working at Forrest Avenue Dental Centre where I gained lots of experience, knowledge and worked with many different dentists. After 2 years of working I took the opportunity to spend some time traveling all over Europe and the East Coast of Australia. Once I returned home after 7 months of traveling, I continued my Dental Assisting career at Dentistry On Marlston. Within my time at Dentistry On Marlston I gained more exposure to certain procedures, such as Implant Surgery and working at St John of God’s Hospital in Bunbury doing dental treatment under General Anaesthesia. I was offered the position as the Clinical Coordinator which I took in my stride, to further my career within the business. After 3 years of working at Dentistry On Marlston, I got a job at Bunbury Oral Care Centre in April 2022. In February 2023 I was offered and accepted the position as Practice Manager at Bunbury Oral Care Centre working under Principal Dentist and Business Owner Dr Lam Nguyen.
I have enjoyed the dental industry and have worked with some amazing people past and present and love the idea of working with such a great team of people. I wouldn’t want to work in any other industry and have had a very positive experience and highly recommend this field to anyone looking for a career that provides a hands on job, with many opportunities to expand.
