Learn how to help your community

Do you want to help your community and learn what to do in an emergency – are you physically active and like learning new skills, want to develop your team building skills? Have you thought about Emergency Services Cadets?

Course Structure

The Endorsed Units, PFES1 Cadets Level One and PFES2 Cadets Level Two, will be offered to Manea Students in 2021. The Cadet units offered for 2021 contribute to the equivalent of 2 courses over the year. All endorsed programs successfully completed are reported to the School Curriculum and Standards Authority and can contribute to secondary graduation in the following ways:

  • They are listed on the student’s WA Statement of Student Achievement
  • Can contribute towards the requirements of the WACE

Topic Areas covered in Emergency Services Cadets:

  • Leadership and Teamwork
  • Camping and Communication
  • Local Community Emergency Links
  • Community Volunteer Involvement
  • Fire Safety and Management
  • Planning and Providing a Bush Fire Safety Plan
  • Risk Management
  • Fire Equipment Training
  • Basic Resuscitation, Introductory First Aid and Provide First Aid
  • Promotion of Health and Safety Initiatives
  • Community Simulated Safety Event
  • Bush Fire Animal Rescue and Wildlife First Aid
  • A log book of skills and activities

Students involved can also utilise elements of this course to contribute towards an interest in joining the armed forces as we all as the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Australia – bronze, silver or gold levels.
