The content covered includes topics such as program planning, lesson planning and evaluation, industry specific risk management and OHS, first aid and social media in the workplace.
The course will prepare students for employment in the Sport, Aquatics and Recreation industry. Over the course of the year students will develop the skills and confidence necessary to become an effective teacher. They will be exposed to industry settings where they can develop their communication skills, organisational skills and teaching strategies.
Not only will students obtain a Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation, they will also receive a Level 1 Sports Trainer qualification which will enable them to work with sporting groups.
Sports Medicine Australia’s (SMA) Level 1 Sports Trainer course is designed to introduce participants to the basic knowledge and skills required by a Sports Trainer. These skills include the management of specific sporting injuries, sports taping and transporting an injured athlete. This course educates prospective Sports Trainers, teachers, coaches, administrators and parents on the basic principles of sports medicine.
The successful completion of the Level 1 Sports Trainer course provides an opportunity for participants to become an SMA Accredited Sports Trainer. This is the standard requirement to perform the duties of a Sports Trainer in most major Australian sporting codes.

Certificate III Sport, Aquatics and Recreation (SIS30122)
The SIS30122 Certificate III Sport, Aquatics & Recreation (Aquatics) is a proposed offering for the 2024 academic year. At the time of publication, no agreements have been entered into with a Registered Training Organisation for the delivery of this qualification. On the basis of interest from students in the SIS30122 Certificate III Sport, Aquatics & Recreation, the College will initiate a formal partnership agreement with a RTO for the delivery of the qualification.
